Defining polyglotism seems to be a rather arbitrary phenomenon. Some believe that polyglots are people who collect languages no matter the proficiency level, others (Alexander Arguelles and Co.) seem to think that a polyglot is someone that conquers the sixth language breakthrough; something about the sixth language that seemed to be a kind of barrier that once broken through made learning further languages much easier, and more likely. In other words, people who spoke six or more languages approached learning them differently. Then again, the majority speculates that a polyglot is not just talented but an actual genius.

Yet, this doesn’t answer the big question: What is a polyglot?

I personally believe that a person that takes interest in languages for their own sake can easily become a polyglot. Because what really matters in language learning is nothing other than –Attitude.
